Echoes after TINART 2010
In the 02-05 December 2010 period took place the Handicraft Cooperation’s’
National Folk Art and Handicrafts Fair ~ TINART organized by UCECOM, in
the ROMEXPO Expositional Complex (Hall 15), within the International Exhibition
of Gifts and Souvenirs.
The event, at 20th edition, gathered 21 handicraft co-operative societies that, on
150 square meters, presented, to the general public and specialists in the field,
authentic handicraft products: traditional garments (embroidered blouses, folk
costumes, traditional head dresses), weavings, embroideries, icons hand painted on
wood, ceramics, handmade carpets, hand sculpted wooden articles, furniture
(including painted furniture), household articles, toys, dolls dressed in folk costumes
and so on.
Under the aegis of TINART took place, on December 2nd 2010, the Scientific
Symposium “Traditional artistic handicrafts ~ challenges of the modern world”
(organized by UCECOM, “ARTIFEX” Foundation and the Professional Association
“ROMARTIZANA”), attended by leading specialists in the field, from the Ministry
of Culture and National Heritage and other important institutions, UCECOM’s
operative management, the representatives of the exhibitors (handicraft co-operative
societies), journalists.
During the entire duration of the fair, the handicraft co-operations’ exhibitors
were visited by representatives of several TV channels (TVR 2, Antena 1, PRO TV,
Antena 3) that filmed the booths and the products and took interviews,
representatives of important stores (interested to start collaborations), potential
business partners from Romania and abroad (e.g. Italy and Bulgaria),
representatives of hotel networks interested to purchase handicraft products to sell
them as souvenirs for the tourists, and also the general public.
Based on the exhibitor’s opinions, the 20th edition of TINART can be
considered a success, gathering an important number of specialized co-operative
societies and also one from sport textiles field.
Thus, the handicraft co-operative sector as a whole, and especially the folk art
and artistic handicrafts, were promoted to the general public, the specialists and
companies interested in direct collaborations.
For the exhibitors, TINART represented an occasion to present and sell their
products, to initiate discussion with potential Romanian and foreign collaborator, to
evaluate the possibility to collaborate with other exhibitors and to research the
souvenirs market.
Also, the Symposium “Traditional artistic handicrafts ~ challenges of the
modern world” was an excellent opportunity to evaluate the current situation and the
sector’s problems, as well as to identify, together with the invited specialists, possible
solutions for development.
